For years Jay Electronica fans have been waiting for an album. Since reemerging on the scene this year the “Exhibit C” rapper has been hard at work. MTV News recently caught up with him at the 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards where he shared that he has created enough material for multiple albums. Sad part is he’s having a hard time figuring out what to release on his next project.

Back in July the rapper revealed that his recreational drug use had momentarily derailed him from music. While he has found ways to control his drug use, he admits that it’s still been a struggle to kick the habit.

"When I came into Islam in my early adult life, I stopped smoking weed and drinking, and over the past few years I just picked those activities back up," he said. "[So it's] not that I had fallen into hardcore Skid Row drug abuse [but it was] just taking a toll on my body and lifestyle."

Electronica continued by explaining that he’s still fighting to stay clean. He said, "It’s always a fight to do the right thing and I’m always making music so that didn’t necessarily have an effect on my music, I just work when I feel like it. I don’t like to force music."

During this process he has been able to continue to push forward thanks to Jay Z’s support and their "good relationship." Back in July the mogul lent help to his friend when he joined the rapper on stage for a performance at Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival.

"The greatest thing that he’s done with me, is that he’s been very patient with me — just letting me do me, and take my time. He’s got the music, but I’ve still gotta get to a point where I’m comfortable with it, because at the end of the day it’s me coming," said Electronica. "I’ve got enough material for many albums."

Jay Electronica’s long awaited album Act II: Patents Of Nobility is expected to this year.
