In an abrupt interview with Hot 107.5 Detroit, T.I. shot down all rumors circulating around him acting as a ghostwriter for his “Fancy” artist Iggy Azalea. The first lady of Grand Hustle Records has been under the microscope lately after Nicki Minaj allegedly fired shots at her for not writing her own rhymes at the 2014 BET Awards. While denying the allegations, T.I. does admit the two collaborate and exchange ideas when it comes to certain aspects of songwriting.
“I ain’t no ghostwriter. Iggy got her own ideas and thoughts that she presents to the world her own way. I couldn’t write a lot of the sh*t she say, you know? I couldn’t put her thoughts into words as articulate as she does. She just has a different way of presenting herself and her art.”
The family oriented rapper explained artists work together all the time and make up hooks when working together. He also laughed at the thought of people considering him to be her mentor but ultimately accepted the title.
“Don’t get me wrong, everyone in the studio helps with hooks and certain things like that but that goes for me and any of the other top 5 [rappers]. If Iggy can have a mentor, I guess, yeah, I’d be the closest thing to it [laughs].”
