Russell Simmons dropped knowledge on importance of meditation when he stopped by Hot 97 to promote his book “Success Through Stillness.”

The Def Jam founder said that by letting the mind settle we become happier people.

“The clutter of the mind is the cause of all suffering. Needing something or neediness is the cause of suffering and the mind fluctuating is the cause of sickness, sadness and suffering. The mind still is the cause of bless.”

The author said the purpose of his book is to make the ancient practice of meditation easy for everyone.

In addition to talking about peaceful reflection, Simmons also spoke on music. With help of questions asked by Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg the media mogul took a trip down memory lane reflecting on the first time he sold fake cocaine and some of the first parties he threw in Manhattan with Grandmaster Flash.—Christ M.
