Fuse’s 3-Part Nas Special Premieres Tonight
"Big Things"
Producer: Alvin WestLyric: "No competition/I stop and twist 'em/Hit 'em like a mafia proposition/I'm glad y'all stopped and listened/Thinkin' back to when I had no pot to piss in"
Why It's Dope: Rarely do you hear Nas rapping this fast, spitting words at a rate that would make Twista nod his head in approval, and using that flow to reiterate how he's untouchable in the rap game.
Fresh from the performance at Coachella that included surprise appearances from Jay Z and Puffy, hip hop icon Nas will be the focus of a Fuse special that analyzes his trailblazing debut album Illmatic and its impact on his career. Producers DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Large Professor, Irv Gotti are among the industry movers and shakers that tell the story of the project and its far reaching effects in Fuse’s 3-part special which debuts today April 15.
Nas, who performed the album in its entirety at the California festival this past weekend, is also releasing Illmatic XX, a two disc set to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his first project. The original album, released on April 19, 1994, is considered by many as one of the most important and influential works in the genre’s history.
