Drake proves you don’t have to be dead to get a mural. Artist Jane Indigo immortalized the “Draft Day” rapper along with some of his closest family and friends in a 3.5 by 4.5 foot portrait.

Before painting, Indigo first had to do her research. Prior to being sought out by a mysterious man from Manchester, the painter knew little about the former Degrassi star or his popularity.

Indigo began working in January drawing inspiration from small photos of Drake, his family and friends. She also began to listen to his music and realized she liked it.

“I actually like some of his songs. I prefer the melodic stuff and there’s a couple he’s done with Rihanna which I like," says Jane.

The painting took two months to complete and was flown to Drake’s home in Los Angeles before being presented to her anonymous client in Manchester.

This is the biggest portrait done by the painter who has also painted a mural of 2Pac. – Chris M. Garner
