Asher Roth

*29. Asher Roth “Lark On My Go Kart,” Asleep In the Bread Aisle (2009)

Official Relase Date: March 24, 2009
Asher Roth followed up his breakout smash single, “I Love College,” with a more understated, playful cut about his dreams of taking Lark Voorhies, the hottie from 1990s show, Saved by the Bell, for a ride. The drum heavy track never saw the same success as his college anthem, but it showcased Asher’s sense of humor and clever wordplay, even briefly finding a spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. Take that Screech.

Tupac will never die, which is rad. Sticking up for your- self and for what you believe in. Getting shot and still being like, “Nah, this is how I feel, how I live, what I do.” It’s impossible not to respect, appreciate and love that.

Asher Roth is gearing up to release his forthcoming album entitled RetroHash, which is also an anagram of his popular moniker. The former XXL Freshman explained the project as, "a record of renewal and self-discovery," in a profile with Billboard. The "I Love College" rapper describes the project as a proper sequel to his popular Asleep In The Bread Aisle, and acknowledges he hasn't "been able to sell music in five years" because of various issues.

In addition to releasing RetroHash, Roth plans on embarking on a tour to coincide with the LP's April 22 release, including a March 15 live listening session that will include an appearance from Pharcyde. The artistic offering was fully produced by Blended Babies, and boasts a feature from XXL Freshmen Class of 2014 candidate Vic Mensa on a track called "Fast Life."
