On the season debut of Katie Couric's syndicated talk show, Katie, Lil Wayne opened up about his future plans to retire at the ripe age of 35. Weezy, 30, reiterated to the former news anchor that he was planning to retire in five years to spend more with and focus on his growing children.

"Whatever they want to do," he told Couric about his retirement plans."I don't want to have no influence... 'Hey you must do this, you must do that.' Because I didn't have that and because I didn't have that I grew up to be exactly what I wanted to be and how I wanted to be. I want that for all of my kids... I know I'll be ready to retire at 35 because I am so ready to retire now!"

Couric, who previously had profiled Lil Wayne in 2009, also asked Weezy if he was still abusing cough syrup in lieu of his recent health problems and seizures. Wayne denied that he was still drinking syrup but admitted that in the past, his drinking had been "excessive." After suffering a series of seizures earlier this year, Wayne told Couric that he told physicians that he was willing to cut way back after physicians highly recommended he stop drinking prescription cough syrup.

"I was doing it too much," Wayne opened up to Couric. "A doctor kind of told me, 'We can't tell you what to do. You've built everything around you. The only person that can tell you what to do is your mom. Everybody else around you kind of works for you... I suggest that your mom tell you to stop.'"
