Accomplice In Alleged Notorious B.I.G. Murder Coverup Escapes From Prison

The U.S. Bureau of Prisons has a pretty big headache on their hands. Clayton Armstrong Hill, a federal inmate at the United States Prison in Southeast Atlanta, apparently walked off the prison grounds May 28th and is on the loose, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Hill, who pled guilty to tax fraud in 2009 for filing 121 false tax forms between the years 2002 and 2006 which landed him a windfall of more than $350,000, became an infamous figure after he published a memoir from prison in 2011 which alleged that he had participated in the coverup following the death of Notorious B.I.G. in Los Angeles in 1997.

“I was notified by officials. . . that inmate Clayton Armstrong Hill walked off the grounds,” said Deputy U.S. Marshal Clay M. Cleveland in an affidavit on May 28th, the same day a U.S. Magistrate judge signed a complaint acknowledging the disappearance of Hill. “A bed count was conducted to verify Hill’s status, and at approximately 6:40 p.m. Hill was identified as missing.” The U.S. Bureau of Prisons currently lists Hill as “escaped.”

Hill’s 2011 memoir alleges that Big’s shooter traveled to Atlanta, where Hill drove him around and helped him discard the murder weapon, apparently acting on a request made by the Nation of Islam. The Nation has denied any such involvement.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution affiliate WSBTV also reported that law enforcement officials kept the escape from neighbors of the prison, who were understandably less than happy that a federal prisoner was able to walk away from custody and remain on the loose for a week before they were informed.
