Ja Rule was finally released from an upstate New York prison this morning after serving his two-year sentence for illegal gun possession.

Instead of having the chance to go home, the 36-year-old rapper headed into another facility to complete his sentence for tax envasion.

The rapper has been in protective custody because of his celebrity status. He has less than six months left of his 28-month sentence to complete. He may also be eligible for a halfway house, according to his defense attorney Stacey Richman.
