It was all good just a week ago, when Nicki Minaj expressed her respect for Mariah Carey on The View. Now, a week later, after a very publicized dispute between the two newly appointed American Idol judges, Mariah Carey has apparently spoken with OG broadcast journalist Barbara Walters to express her concerns on the incident.

On The View earlier today (October 4th), Barbara Walters—after showing a footage of the singer's twins with husband Nick Cannon—recited what she was told from Mariah Carey:

"When Nicki walked off the set, multiple people heard Nicki say, 'If I had a gun, I would shoot that [inaudible] bitch.' She said there were staff members who heard, hairdressers, producers, other people. She said she's very concerned, she's with her twins, she doesn't feel anything will happen, I'm quoting [Mariah Carey] now, 'But Nicki is unpredictable,' And Mariah said she can't take a chance, and she has hired extra security. Nicki has not apologized, but they have since been together at meetings, with producers and judges. After the meeting, Nicki said to Mariah, 'I love you, but we might fight again.' Mariah responded, 'No, we will not.' At this point Mariah said she doesn't feel comfortable emotionally."

As a response to The View's commentaries on Nicki Minaj's alleged threats against Mariah Carey (including co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck's statements on maybe Nicki should "release a statement" for her fans "to not take their own action in anyway"), the YMCMB princess took to Twitter, and commented on the bubbling issues in her own manner tweeting, "Hey yAll. Lets just say nicki said smthn about a gun. ppl will believe it cuz she’s a black rapper. Lmao. I’ll then hit up Barbara n milk it. Ironically no camera or mic heard the gun comment tho. Lol @ the struggle. Not even the producers believed u. Say no to violence barbz."

The Queens MC also jokingly added, "Barbara walters didn’t reach out from our team barbz. I guess we’re too dangerous. Don’t shake if u don’t wannA get shook!!!! LmAooooooooooo."

Minaj ended her retort stating, "I guess it hurts 2 have the producers tell u to ur face that nicki is the best judge we’ve had since simon. Awww, poor u. Keep them lies cmn. All I do is compliment u. That’s not enuff? Ur a legend, cheer up. U don’t have to run down ur resume or feel intimidated. Shady McGrady…"

The spark, which caused the verbal altercation between the two revered pop artists is shrouded in mystery. Certain reports are claiming that Mariah Carey has insulted Nicki Minaj by calling her a bitch. And Ms. Carey's constant boasts about her accomplishments have irritated Minaj to the point that the Queens MC was pushed to the edge.

Other reports are claiming the controversy was sparked to boost the rating of the aging series. According to Hollywood Reporter, a high-ranking American Idol insider has stated, "The Mariah-Nicki diva battle is exactly what Fox executives wanted all along. No one's really worried. They know the parts they’re supposed to play.”

Yesterday, on the set of American Idol auditions in Charlotte, North Carolina, TMZ claimed everything went smoothly, with all the judges interacting with one another without any issues. But with today's news reports, and different sources adding oil to the flame, it's unclear how things will unravel during the upcoming auditions in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. —Jaeki Cho (@JaekiCho)
