Are you working on the Rick Ross/Drake collaboration mixtape?
Yeah, that shit about to be stupid. It’s probably going to be the same crop of niggas – me, T-Minus, 40, [Boi-1da], maybe Luger, whoever else.
So now you’re on tour and opening for Drake with Kendrick Lamar and A$AP Rocky. How’s the chemistry between the four of you?
Me and Drake kinda put the whole thing together. Being friends with Kendrick, I introduced Kendrick to Drake. I used to tell Drake, “This is somebody you need to listen to.” I always want him to feel like there’s somebody on his tail, ‘cause I feel the same way. [Kendrick] finds a way to put a lot of fucking words in a 16 and say some profound shit. We just sat listening to the whole [Section 80] mixtape, chilling and smoking, and he was like, “Yo, this nigga is real.” I gave him the number, and Kendrick was in Toronto when they linked up. As far as Rocky, I got homies in Harlem so I knew the kid before the buzz. I played Drake his music. Rocky had a show out there during Fashion Week, so I told him to go to Drake’s Versace show. We’re all friends. Even though Drake’s selling 700K first week, he doesn’t have this aura about him where he’s not humble enough to go to Kendrick’s dressing room, or come to my shit or Rocky’s shit and watch our shows. There’s no ego. We’re trying to keep the unity together where we use the biggest platform to showcase the niggas next in line.
What do you have coming up?
“I Wish I Was in Vegas” is what I got spinning on the radio right now in LA, Vegas, New Orleans, Ohio, Toronto—I’m just trying to get the record everywhere. I’m dropping a video for “Lights Down Low,” from The Heir Up There. That’s gonna be the first visual I drop. [I’m dropping] videos for a lot of songs I got out right now like “Ode to the Real,” [and] “S.S.D.” I definitely fuck with Troy Ave, that’s one of my favorite artists right now. We’re about to put an EP together. He’s impatient as fuck! He’s trying to rush it, but I’m not. I feel like we’re both on the rise. Who else am I working with? Drake, J. Cole, A$AP Rocky, Kendrick. I’m trying to get some shit with Schoolboy Q. Other than that, [just] Surf Club. [Also, be on the look out for] Kent Money, he’s got a new project coming out: Eyes Wide Shut.
