Last year, XXLMag.com broke the news that Raekwon was working on a film based on his life growing up in Staten Island. Well, it looks like the Chef is almost ready to deliver the goods and he’s got some surprisingly big names involved in the flick.

Rae told XXL that the script for the movie—named after Wu-Tang Clan’s classic 1993 banger, “C.R.E.A.M.”—is almost finished and approximately 60 percent of the roles have been cast. One character in particular—the rapper’s father—will be played by none other than Cee Lo Green.

“Cee Lo Green [is] playing my pops in the film,” Chef revealed. “Cee Lo is gon’ play Raekwon’s ol’ dad!”

“[He’s] a good friend of mine,” Rae said when asked how Lo landed the role . “When I called him and told him about it he was just overwhelmed. He’s just one out of the greats that’s gonna be on the project.”

When XXL last spoke to Rae, he was considering Chuck Inglish of The Cool Kids to play his younger self. The actor for that role hasn't been picked.

“Chuck of The Cool Kids, that’s my dude, good dude, but he’s still gotta go in for casting purposes to see if he really could make a debut in a great way,” he said.

Asked whether he expects the film to be in theaters or a straight-to-DVD release, Rae divulged that he's already in talks with a leading independent movie studio about the project.

“We’re definitely going for the theaters,” he said. “The people that are gonna be involved with it definitely feel like it’s a great picture, and there’s a definite possibility it’s a Lions Gate film.”

In the meantime, Rae is gearing up for another mixtape, which he plans to drop mid-September as well as an appearance on the Rock the Bells Tour, where he will be performing his seminal debut, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, with partner-in-rhyme Ghostface Killah.
