It may have taken longer than expected, but Auto-Tune may finally be dead. Last week, T-Pain told the LA Times that he was hanging up his vocoder.

"I'm done with Auto-Tune,” the “Buy U a Drank” singer said in a statement to the Times. "I vow right here, right now, to never use Auto-Tune again."

Jay-Z attempted to put an end to the trend with his 2009 single "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)," but Pain ignored the memo. The rap singer, who's used Auto-Tune to help craft countless hits, continued to use the voice manipulation software and even launched a mobile application that allows users to mimic the Auto-Tune effect in '09.

We took a look at T-Pain’s discography to see if Hov’s “D.O.A.” had an effect on the hook man's chart success. Men lie, women lie (Auto-Tune lies), numbers don’t.
