As expected, L.A. Reid, previous chairman of Island Def Jam and judge on Fox’s upcoming series The X-Factor, has landed a new position as the head of Sony Music’s Epic Label Group.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Epic Label Group will now include Jive Records, which means Reid will be reunited with his LaFace signees Usher and Pink.

THR also notes that Reid has already  had a hand in signing new artists like the YouTube duo, Karmin, who became known after they covered Chris Brown’s “Look at Me Now,” which earned them 21 million views.

As XXLMag.com reported earlier, many speculated that Reid would eventually join his former Universal boss Doug Morris at Sony Music.—Nicole LoPresti
