No I.D. & T-Minus Land on Lonely Island CD
Lonely Island, the comedic hip-hop trio made up of Saturday Night Live members, Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone, might not take their rhymes seriously, but that's not the case for their beats.
The Grammy-nominated group recruited several heavy hitters to produce their new album, Turtleneck and Chain, hitting shelves tomorrow. Chicago bred hitmaker, No I.D. (who has worked closely with Common, Kanye West and Jay-Z), T-Minus (Drake, T.I., Ludacris) and Chops (Young Jeezy, Bun B), are among the big name boardsmiths that contributed to the disc.
“When we were making the album, we would definitely put feelers out for different people, friends of friends who made beats and, people that we love—even ones we couldn’t use on the album—people like No I.D.,” Taccone told The New York Times. “So if that’s why they sound like real songs, in a way, it’s because they are—it’s just us getting on and ruining them.”
