50 Cent is set to propel his acting career further in the Jessy Terrero-directed feature film Freelancers.

In the flick, Fif will play the son of a late NYPD officer welcomed by his father’s former partner, reports Variety. The movie, written by Phillipe Cassius, is set to begin filming on March 28 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Last fall 50′s Cheetah Vision inked a $200 million partnership deal with Lionsgate. Freelancers is the second title in that 10-film deal. Setup, the first film under the Lionsgate deal, will star Bruce Willis and Ryan Philippe alongside the G-Unit General.

Earlier in the year, 50 announced that he was joining forces with Floyd Mayweather Jr. to launch another film company named Mayweather Productions.

The Queens native made his film debut in 2005′s Get Rich or Die Tryin’, loosely based on his own life. His film credits also include Righteous Kill and Home of the Brave. Terrero, who began his career directing hip-hop music videos—including 50’s “Candy Shop” and “I Still Kill”—put out his first movie, Soul Plane, in 2004. He also directed Fif’s Gun, which was released last month on DVD.—Henry Adaso
