How Good Is Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Friday Series? [AIM & Fire]

Thomas: If we are impressed just by people using weird accents and voices…
its a solid verse…confident, creative, clever

Jesse: I don’t think it takes away – I think if anything it adds to it

Matt: Eminem’s verses with voices > Nicki’s verses with or without voices (haha)…I had to say it

Rob: LOL

Matt: That was an alley-oop

Rob: Plus props to Nicki for the Tony Matterhorn reference, reppin’ for the West Indians

Adam: Would people throw things at me if i said I like “I’m So Appalled” more than “Monster”? Only slightly, but I do

Matt: I may be alone in this, but I think the hook on “Runaway” is a bit hokey

Rob: My second favorite song is “Lord, Lord, Lord”

Brooklyne: I’m with you Matt

Jesse: Yo Charlie Wilson > John Legend

Rob: LOL! Word. Sorry John

Adam: Pusha T has been a standout

Jesse: I was real impressed with Cyhi’s verse

Matt: Haha I forgot Pusha T was even on “Runaway”

Adam: Haha, well then

Adam: Cyhi’s voice and delivery are unique which is part of what i like about him

Jesse: What’s the best ‘Ye verse so far?

Brooklyne: “Power (Remix)”

Adam: I’m thinking “Monster,” maybe “Power (Remix)”

Matt: “Power (Remix)”

Rob: Yeah Kanye’s “Power (Remix)” verse was dope: “They say as-salamu alaykum, say alaykum as-salam/That’s no Oscar Mayer bacon you should run and tell your moms,”

Jesse: What’s the consensus on “Devil in a New Dress”

Matt: “Devil in a New Dress” is awesome. The whole feel of it

Rob: The beat for ‘Devil in a New Dress” is dooope. Bink did his thing. Its a cool Kanye joint.

Matt: Bink should produce more

Jesse: Agreed

Rob: But that Joell Ortiz freestyle over that beat? GOOD LORD

Jesse: I think thats actually my fav Good Friday joint

Rob: Hey Kanye, can we get Joell on a GOOD Friday joint? Can the Latinos get love

Rob: Oh wait he had Banks on a joint

Matt: Hey Kanye, give J. Cole a call

Jesse: I’m not sure what i think of “Christian Dior Denim Flow.” I think it got bogged down by features

Matt: I’m actually pretty unimpressed by “Christian Dior.” Sounds a bit messy

Rob: Cudi killed the hook on that

Adam: Speaking of Cudi killing hooks…We havent even talked about [the song] “Good Friday” yet. Guess people dont love that one?

Jesse: I love the beat – its old school Kanye

Matt: That one was cool, yeah

Rob: Hold up though— how much guts does Ryan Leslie have to be rhyming on a joint with Ye, Pusha and Banks

Jesse: R Les can spit

Adam: That shit was a fail. Stop

Matt: Haha

Brooklyne: I’m just happy we agreed that Nicki had the best feature. We’re gonna piss some haters off with that one

Jesse: OK so we are all at the consensus that Nicki had best feature and “Monster” is the best track

Jesse: Bink should do more beats

Jesse: Charlie Wilson > Legend

Jesse: And Jay needs to stop complaining

Jesse: Any last words

Adam: Kanye needs to keep making music

Rob: I love Crooked I, but Kanye has the best weekly series of all time

Matt: Yeah… welcome back, Kanye

Jesse: That’s all folks thanks for playing AIM & Fire

IMHO….”Lord, Lord, Lord” was the worst track of the series. I have no interest in hearing that song again. Rank = Dead last.

“Monster” was hot, and I agree, Nicki murdered that track. The voices definitely add to her verse, although a whole cd of voices…eehhhh. Ye did his thing too, “Have you ever had sex with a pharaoh…ahhh, put the pussy in a sarcophagus”. Rank = Third

“Good Friday” – Cudi of course did his thing on the hook…”I know the city gettin’ ready for me”. It was easily the second hottest track in my opinion. Rank = Second

“Devil in a new dress” – is smooth, I love the beat and Ye’s flow. Plus I know a female like that, so a brotha can relate. “Power (Remix)” – Jay and Kanye, how could you not like this song. Both are tied fourth (easily better than anything else on the radio, but when comparing the series it’s tough). They’re tied in my opinion cause I like them both for different reasons. “New Dress” – is just so laid back and smooth, while “Power” just gets me hype.

“So Appalled” – ehhh….it was a good track, and I agree RZA (thumbs down)…he didn’t need to be on there. Rank = Sixth

While the XXL staff wasn’t feeling “Christian Dior Denim Flow”, is beyond my understanding. I don’t know why Ye decided to tape his verse over the phone like Shyne, but it doesn’t take away from the track too much. Although, I don’t think everyone got enough time on the track; but who really wants to listen to a 10 minute track. Rank = First

I like them all, why do we always have to rank things. Enjoy the music. If these songs were an album, minus maybe a few features( I dont have a problem with Rza, Swizz gets annoying though), it would be great. Yall just noticed the Jay Z complaints. Thats the one reason why I have felt much of his recent stuff, he doesnt talk about anything but how he’s the greatest and we should bow and worship. His verse on that Usher song is the best veerse I’ve heard from him since BP3.

I love Kanye and pretty much anything ROC Nation. . . Jay, Ye, Cole, Rhi, and BK. . . put me on the team:) #soserious

This should be Kayne best piece of work. Lot of good feature. This is how you get good Record Sells!!

  • No Name

I take it that the Runaway Love Remix was discounted ’cause it has Beiber on it. Oh well, typical elitist thinking. I still think it’s an okay joint.

what about see me now w/beyonce

  • http://yahoo L is king

blue dress is the best song so far, but these few songs are better than Drake’s whole album

  • Nicholas

the reason not that many people like Lord Lord Lord is cuz swizz sucks he should stick to producing

  • black jesus

so appalled was great. champaign wishes, 30 white bitches, this shit is fuckin ridiculous. thats a champions anthem.

cudi killed the hook on good friday.

the rest are unimpressive to wack.

  • King_Jaffe_J

ya some dick riders…PUSHA T had the best verses PERIOD POINT BLANK

  • yoprince

    best line:

“My niggas is home, I guess I got everything…”
    - Beyonce

Nicki’s verse is epic tho. entertaining, energetic, creative, boastful, and she murdered two of the best doing it.

i don’t feel like ranking the songs, not b/c it’s not a fun, valid discussion but b/c it’s too difficult. so appalled is somewhere near the top and the one with lloyd banks is certainly on the bottom, at least partly due to kanye phoning it in.

fun ‘fact’: kanye has now made one series of music better than 2/3 of jay-z’s ‘esteemed’ blueprint series. ha!

  • Q461

I’m split down the middle on these.. I like Monster, Devil in a New Dress, GOOD friday, and Lord Lord Lord. Unimpressed by the Christian Dior shit, the Power remix and So Appalled, but maybe they will grow on me later on.

lookin forward to this Kanye joint next month yo.

  • Dj Kay Slay

Wow! He copied Crooked I, NIIIICCEE, fuck kanye!

  • Q!thaGreat!

all of the tracks were hella nice! crazy!!!
even the Bieber track was nice. It was cool to hear Mos Def and Raekwon again, plus Charlie wilson on the hooks!!! that is crazy!!! Uncle Charlie still got it! I think he should get Crooked I on one of these weeks!! that would be the sh!t!

  • Tim

Don’t Stop is the best Good Friday track…but that just dropped yesterday haha.

One of the best verses came from Jay-Z, but on So Appalled. That verse was killer. That and his verse on the Power remix.

    I don’t like Monster, I think it’s just ok.

  • jonny bizness

The G.O.O.D friday series has been a revelation.Yeah other artists have done it before but no where near this standard.Out of all the joints So appalled stands out with devil in a blue dress coming a close favourite line is “all of y’all can suck my balls thru my drawls” Seriously guys with the crs joint last night i’d go as far as saying IT IS better than recovery!!!!!!!!!

  • Dick B.

Pretty much all the songs are wack. I voted for Lord Lord Lord just because it has Rae & Mos but even that song itn’t all that good. Lately Raekwon has been making some questionable guest appearances, not that his verses are some garbage or anything, but Justin Beiber come on man.
I haven’t and probably won’t take the time to download the songs, not even worthy of being in my iPod Library.

  • original Will

“I didnt think Lloyd Banks brought much to christian Dior Denim Flow”

That Anslem dude is tripping everybody I knows hate that song which I love but They say Banks had the best part and was the only reason they liked it its obvious that anslem dude is a baccpacc rapper fan who dont like when gangsta rappers and conscience rappers mix together

I mean That line where he was like “Nigga make some money before you make a comment” Had twitter trending like a mofo

i mean if you felt lloyd didnt bring much to the song that means that you think Ryan leslie and kanye part were better than his The only part that you can argue that was better was Pusha T but to say out of all the people on there dude was the worst that is Shots my nig

  • megulito
