Vanilla Ice’s infamous song caused a lot of controversy in the hip-hop community (“Pop Goes the Weasel” anyone?) and the courtroom (never paying Queen for using the sample, he was forced to go into his wallet after the group sued him for royalties) but you can’t deny that the beat is hot and the song was a glorified hit. It was such a big smash, Suge Knight ended up visiting the rapper to get a piece.

    I find it very funny how emcees and hip-hop in general is ANTI-GAY. But CLEARLY with this group and several others, someone forgot to tell the homophobes about the singer’s sexual preference. Even the group’s name says it all.

    Personally…. I don’t think it matters. Good music is good music.

    But Kanye said it right. Having a wildly successful male Rapper who is outwardly gay is not happening any time soon..

    Let’s face it….. The public is warmer to lesbians than male homosexuals. After all…. There’s a reason Luther Vandross went to his death bed without revealing his true sexuality.
    That shit is poison to your music career if you’ve built your shit on the backs of ladies…. Can you imagine what would have happened if LL had said he was gay at the height of his success?

    Queen is one of the best rock groups period and Freddie Mercury had an amazing voice. I had just bought their 3 cd greatest hits like 9 months ago and it stays in rotation.
    @Sha yeah that is kinda funny how things work out like that. In the end it shouldn’t matter because like gift said good music is good music. Even that song that Just Blaze flipped for T.I.’s “Live Your Life” was about gay pride but in the end he was able to make a fantastic beat with it.
