Mar Brown, the Senior Vice President of Urban Radio Promotion for Atlantic Records, died on Tuesday (Dec. 20) night. An internal message was sent out to label employees by Atlantic Records Group's co-chairmen Craig Kallman and Julie Greenwald to announce the news, Billboard reports.

"This is shocking, tragic news to all of us, especially those who worked closely with him -- both at Atlantic and across the industry," the internal message reads. "He was a fantastic music man, a devoted father, and an amazing human being, who was taken from us far too soon. Always passionate and caring, Mar was widely loved by artists, partners and colleagues. His paternal instincts extended to his team, for whom he was an uplifting mentor who could always be counted on for the answers."

Brown worked with artists such as Gucci Mane, Meek Mill, Wiz Khalifa and Ty Dolla $ign during his time at Atlantic Records. He also worked with the likes of Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and Gang Starr throughout his career in the music industry. DJ Premier spoke highly of Brown in an Instagram post about the executive's untimely death.

"Death Hurts So Fuckin Much!" DJ Premier wrote. "This Man MAR BROWN Is An Angel. He Did Our Promotions In 1998 When GANG STARR Transferred To Virgin/Noo Trybe from our EMI Deal. We toured and had so much fun taking our first ever LP to go Gold Status and then "FULL CLIP" also went Gold In 1999..."
