The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards is going down tonight (Aug. 28) at Madison Square Garden. Music's biggest names are set to be there. Nicki Minaj will be joining Future and Ty Dolla $ign as a performer. The VMAs also gave the green light to Kanye West. He's set to perform tonight. It was recently reported that he skipped rehearsal and the staff has no idea what 'Ye is going to perform.

For Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Nicki Minaj goes up against Lil’ Kim, DeJ Loaf, Missy Elliott and Remy Ma, while the Best Collaboration category features Big Sean’s “No Games” with Chris Brown and Ty Dolla $ign, Future’s “Where Ya At” featuring Drake, the Beyonce-assisted Nicki Minaj track “Feeling Myself,” Rihanna’s “Work” with Drake and Big Sean’s “One Man Can Change the World” with Kanye West and John Legend. Drake, Desiigner and Kanye are being recognized for their visual excellency. The rappers are among the hip-hop heavyweights nominated at the VMAs. Drizzy is nominated for five awards — Video of the Year, Best Male Video, Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Art Direction (“Hotline Bling”) and Best Female Video (“Work” with Rihanna). Desiigner is up for Best Hip-Hop Video (“Panda”) and Best New Artist. Yeezy is nominated for Best Male Video and Video of the Year for “Famous.” Other clips nominated for Best Hip-Hop Video are Bryson Tiller’s “Don’t,” Chance The Rapper and Saba’s “Angels” and 2 Chainz’ “Watch Out.”
