City Officials Take Down Big Pun Street Sign

Shane Rossi, a Bronx resident and Big Pun fan, mounted his own Big Pun Place sign on the corner of 163 St. and Rogers Pl. to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the rapper's death. The sign, held up by zip ties in the middle of the night, was removed this week by city officials.

"I think that he did more than people give him credit for," said Rossi of his hip-hop idol. "I just want [the city] to know that there is still interest and people haven’t forgotten."

Rossi's intention was not to go in opposition of the law. "My whole premise was to not disrespect anyone," the 27-year-old said. "It wasn’t an insult or a jab at the right way of doing things."

According to a police source, cops aren’t looking to charge Rossi. Watch Rossi put the sign in the video above.
