Lil Wayne is headed to the big house. Earlier today (October 22) Weezy pleaded guilty to a second-degree attempted gun possession charge in a Manhattan courtroom, surprisingly switching his original plea of innocence.

According to the Associated Press, the New Orleans rapper is expected to receive about one year behind bars, instead of the mandatory three-and-a-half-year bid that New York places on gun possession charges.

Weezy is free on bail while awaiting his sentence date in February.

As previously reported, the Young Money rapper was just in court yesterday, where prosecutors claimed that they discovered a small amount of DNA evidence linking Wayne to the weapon.

The Grammy award winning MC was arrested in 2007 in Columbus Circle, following a concert at the Beacon Theatre. After smelling marijuana coming from his tour bus, officers pulled the vehicle over and allege to have found a .40 caliber semi-automatic loaded gun belonging to the rapper. –Elan Mancini
