Late UGK rapper Pimp C will be honored at this year's Ozone Awards with a category named after him that recognizes outspoken rappers, XXLmag.com has learned.

Kanye West, Lil Wayne, David Banner, Trae, Killer Mike, and Trick Daddy are the nominees for the spirited award.

Pimp C, who passed last December due to the combination of cough syrup and sleep apnea, was as beloved for his lyrics and production, as he was for his brash commentary.

The rapper made colorful comments about Russell Simmons in an issue of Ozone magazine and also disparaged Young Jeezy for the trap star's drug references. Pimp C said Jeezy's lines were inaccurate. The UGK star also caused a controversy when he said Atlanta wasn't part of the South during a radio interview.

The nominees all have had their moments as well. Most notable West's "George Bush doesn't care about black people" remark and Weezy's comments in Complex magazine about Jay-Z.

The Ozone Awards will be held in Houston, Texas, along with the TJs DJs Tastemaker's Conference, August 8-11.---LaTisha Robbins
