Last night some of hip-hop and R&B’s biggest acts were honored at the 2009 BMI Urban Awards.

Reuters reports that Lil Wayne, T-Pain, Kanye West and Polow Da Don were among the big winners of the night. Both Weezy and Pain shared the Songwriter of the Year trophy while both Ye and Polow earned Producer of the Year credits. “No Air,” the collaboration between Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown, was named Song of the Year.

Funk music legend George Clinton was presented with the BMI Icon Award. Big Boi, Cee-Lo Green, Janelle Monae and Dallas Austin were among the artists that payed homage to the Parliament Funkadelic leader in a montage of his greatest hits.

Miami Boss Rick Ross was also in attendance last night as he kicked off the event performing his hit "Magnificent." –Elan Mancini
