Jay-Z took some swipes at former friends and foes Friday night (July 3) at Las Vegas’s Palms Resort and Casino.

Dressed in all black as he suggested on “D.O.A. (Death Of Auto-Tune),” Jay spit an a cappella rhyme rumored to be the intro to his forthcoming Blueprint 3 album, mentioning Jim Jones, The Game, Jaz-O and one-time partner Damon Dash by name.

“I ain’t talking about gossip/I ain’t talking about Game/I ain’t talking about Jimmy/I ain’t talking about Dame,” the Brooklyn MC brashly rapped. “Lets talk about facts/Dame made millions, even Jaz made some scraps/He could’ve made more but he ain’t sign his contract.”

The quips have already prompted Twitter responses from their targets.

Jim Jones wrote early Sunday morning, “Question if someone says in the song I’m not talkin bout Jimmy is that not talking bout Jimmy lol we r back in business people.”

The Game asked followers to determine if the namedrop was indeed a diss, writing seven minutes later: “Aight so, after about 10,000 responses.. The results read that he aint dissin me. & as bad as I want to respond to his old azz, he can slide.”

While Jay-Z has had subliminal back-and-forth lyrical spats with the Compton rapper, he’s directly dissed Jones on wax in the past, on tracks like “Brooklyn High,” where he rhymed over Capo’s “We Fly High.”

LeBron James was also in attendance at the concert, taking the stage for Jay’s closing track. –John Kennedy
