P-Lo promises that his latest album, Shine, is just what you need if you’re trying to get the party started. “If you like having a good time and turning up, go check that shit out,” says the multifaceted rapper and producer, who won’t even let the lack of a beat kill his vibe. The “Hella Fun” artist, hailing from the Bay Area, flexed his beat-making and rap skills for XXL's Flex Zone freestyle.

“I don’t want the head, I want the bread/Still runnin' shit if I ain’t have no legs/Ridn' old waves, man, that shit dead/I was drinking on tequila, now I’m back on Hen'/Back on my bull/They be on E, I’m on full/She wanna fuck, I’m like cool/Mama ain’t raise her no fool/Can’t trust a hoe, that’s the rule/I like my bitches in duos,” he delivers.

Released in August, Shine, which stands for Somehow It Never Ends, finds the Filipino-American rhymer showcasing his versatility—he can be both lit and reflective. The Heartbreak Gang member gets introspective on “Don’t Think” with Mozzy and reps for his squad on “Just Gang,” which he says was inspired by the “different collectives and groups of people that are doing positive things” from around his way.

The 16-track project also features the single “Going Big,” which appears on the soundtrack to EA Sports’ Madden 20 video game, as well as collaborations with Kehlani and Dom Kennedy.
