Before the 2019 XXL Freshman class will be revealed this summer, the Freshman hopefuls are here to show and prove why they deserve a spot in this year’s class. The 10th Spot voting will launch on March 25, which means hip-hop's rising newcomers are vying for a spot on the 2019 XXL Freshman cover.

There’s nothing sheepish about Cincinnati, Ohio rapper Insomniac Lamb$ and for the last few years he’s been actively putting on for his city. A part of the original SoundCloud wave, things got real for the 27-year-old rapper in 2014, when he put out the EPs Fukk Karma and 5 Burds, both of which garnered a substantial buzz. Then Lamb$ earned a spot on tour with Houston’s Maxo Kream the following year, helping to expand his brand.

With his menacing but melodious style, Lamb$ has kept his nose to the grindstone, releasing the projects Fukk Karma 2 (2016), Thanks 4 Nothing (2017), Wake the F**k Up (2017) and Insomniac Vol. 1 (2018). Along the way, he’s collaborated with Lil Uzi Vert, Shy Glizzy, UnoTheActivist and more. His breakout single, “2 Door” featuring Playboi Carti, has landed in the 1 million streams club on SoundCloud.

The hustle hasn’t stopped in 2019 with Lamb$ dropping his latest single, “Fighting Demons” featuring Lil Uzi Vert in January and prepping a new project. He's living proof that what happens in Cin-City gets out sometimes.
