Before the 2019 XXL Freshman class will be revealed this summer, the Freshman hopefuls are here to show and prove why they deserve a spot in this year’s class. The 10th Spot voting will launch on March 25, which means hip-hop's rising newcomers are vying for a spot on the 2019 XXL Freshman cover.

Coi Leray has that energy the game’s been missing and it’s starting to pay dividends. For the 21-year-old rapper and singer from Bergen County, N.J., by way of Boston, entertainment is the family business (her father is rapper Benzino). Coi started making her own mark in the game in 2017 via tracks like “G.A.N.” and “Pac Girl,” both of which later appeared on her March 2018 debut, EverythingCoz.

That September, she put out her biggest single to date, “Huddy,” an unabashed bass bomb that has tallied more than 2 million views on YouTube. Republic Records added the bubbling rapper to its roster in January, prior to the release of her sequel, EC2, which features the song “Big Dawgs” with Trippie Redd.

Other early successes have included opening for Gucci Mane, appearing on the stacked Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse soundtrack and performing on Trippie Redd’s Life's a Trip Tour.

Now that you've heard her pitch, remember to vote for your favorite artist beginning March 25. The 2019 XXL Freshman 10th Spot will run for one week. This is where the public gets the chance to vote an artist into the XXL Freshman Class. Go here to make your vote count for your favorite artist.
