6ix9ine Previews Two New Spanish Tracks With Anuel AA

Puerto Rican trap star Anuel AA continues to make moves after completing his prison sentence last month. The "Brindemos" rapper was spotted this week in the studio previewing two Spanish collaborations with 6ix9ine.

Tekashi teased the tracks in videos on Instagram, one of which has been deleted but continues to circulate online. Over a soft dancehall riddim in the first clip posted Wednesday (Aug. 10), both artists dance and sing along to their parts. It sounds like a romantic duet with potential to chart.

"ITS TIME FOR THAT 9 FOR 9," the rainbow-haired rhymer wrote in the caption. "NO ENGLISH ON THIS ONE ... ANOTHER ONE FOR THE BILLBOARD." The caption also includes what may be the track's title, "Pegamos."

Tekashi's second clip, posted and deleted on Friday (Aug. 10), previews a different song at a higher tempo and included a caption explaining the Nuyorican's pivot to Spanish-language music.

"I KNOW FOR A LOT OF MY FANS YALL DONT KNOW SPANISH," read the caption. "BUT THIS IS SOMETHING I MUST DO ... IM THE BEST IN THE GAME RIGHT NOW HANDS DOWN SO IMA SHOW EVERYONE I CAN DO WHAT EVER [I] WANT."

The snippets appear at an exciting time for Anuel and a less exciting time for 6ix9ine. The former, one of so-called Latin trap's early innovators, completed the final stretch of a prison stint for firearm possession at a halfway house in Miami on July 17 and subsequently dropped a surprise album titled Real Hasta La Muerte, about which he spoke to XXL last month.

Tekashi, meanwhile, faces a potential prison sentence of his own for failing to uphold the terms of a 2015 plea agreement for a sex crime involving a 13-year-old girl. The Manhattan District Attorney's Office recently sent a letter to Tekashi's judge arguing the rapper should register as a sex offender and be sentenced to one to three years in a state prison.

The news comes as the "Gummo" spitter's latest single "Fefe" featuring Nicki Minaj and Murda Beatz continues to climb the Hot 100, peaking at No. 3 on the most recent chart. You can watch 6ix9ine and Anuel AA's song snippets below.
