JC Gwalla and BlocBoy JB keep things simple on "Shots," a new, Tay Keith-produced track that finds both rappers at their most menacing. They've got a video for it, too, and XXL's got the exclusive premiere.

Directed by Yo Ali, the new visual is as straightforward as the track itself, as it includes shots of both rappers in a trap spot as they clutch guns and flex for the camera. Gwalla, who's from the same Memphis neighborhood as BlocBoy, says the video is on-brand.

"The [theme of the video] is basically violence," Gwalla tells XXL of the track and its accompanying visual, which features shots of BlocBoy doing his "Shoot" dance. "The song is called 'Shots,' so it's basically a trap video. Not saying I want people to condone in violence or [trapping], but it’s just the lifestyle we lived."

That lifestyle rings through loud and clear on "Shots," where both rappers deliver threats upon threats. Up first is BlocBoy, who knows a little something about rapping over Tay Keith production.

"Talk from a far, you a bitch/I do not know who you are—who is this?/I got a glock and A-R with a kick/I'ma kill you and the niggas you with," spits BlocBoy, whose Simi project dropped a couple weeks back. Next up is Gwalla, who does more flexing than anything else.

"We gon' turn this bitch up, Tay Keith fuck these niggas up/In VIP section with Drake and we cool/10 thousand just to step in the booth/BlocBoy with me, ready to shoot," he raps over the ominous trap beat.

With its throbbing instrumental and in your face verses, Gwalla's new BlocBoy-assisted track should find itself in a lot of places soon. Its success would fall right in line with his goals for rest of the year.

"My only plans for 2018 [are] to rise and keep rising to the top and get recognized in the industry, take my talents to the top and become a successful artist," he offers.
