Buddy and ASAP Ferg Embrace Being “Black” in New Video

Nearly a month ago, Buddy teamed up with A$AP Ferg for the prideful anthem embracing their culture on "Black." Today (April 3), the Compton native drops off the empowering visual to his latest single.

The black and white video opens with the 24-year-old getting a fresh haircut as the clip panels around to some legendary athletes such as Muhammad Ali and Magic Johnson. The scene then switches to the "Shine" rapper getting driven around his city while rapping bristling bars and sipping on some Hennessy.

Buddy then touches on some sensitive topics in the Black community throughout the tune. "I feel like Trayvon with this black hoodie on/Huey P. Newton/Black Revolution," he rhymes. "I’m with a Nubian queen and some illegal aliens/I got a Black fist balled up and it ain’t just me, it’s all of us."

The Magnolia artist continues on to hit the A$AP Mob member on FaceTime as he catches the Trap Lord relaxing on his couch rocking an Adidas track jacket, shorts and a du-rag. Ferg raps his soothing assist over the Jahaan Sweet-produced beat that includes a shoutout to Atlanta's 6lack.

"This kid Black, Timbs black/Kill tracks like I'm 6lack (Black ass nigga)," spits the "Plain Jane" artist. "Hair blacker than black lips black/Even my dick black/Grandad Irish Trinidad."

The visual comes to a close as the screen blacks out for the final 10 seconds with Buddy repeatedly shouting "Black" over the track's instrumental. The RCA artist is hard at work on his debut studio album, which is expected to drop at some point later in 2018.
