Imagine attending a concert while a post-apocalyptic riot pops off just outside the venue. That's sort of what it feels like when you watch Smokepurpp's new video for "Bless Yo Trap," a single from his recently released debut mixtape, Deadstar.

The new video features a striking mix of hazy, retro-looking footage and hellish graphics. In some parts of the visual, we see Purpp standing in front of a fiery skyline as a demonic, orangish aura outlines his body. In other parts, we see him performing onstage, possibly at the 2017 Rolling Loud Festival this in Miami this past spring. In a few more, we see security camera footage of stores being blown up and Purp riding shotty through what are presumably the streets of Florida. There's a lot going on, but when you combine the visual with an Ice Bream beat that sounds like an emergency, you never lose focus for a second.

Smokepurpp is currently one of the biggest rising artists in the South Florida rap scene, which, if you've been paying attention to the likes of XXXTentacion, Ski Mask The Slump God, Lil Pump, Pouya and Fat Nick, you know is a huge deal. Speaking with us last spring, Purpp said he has a style all his own.

"My style is too versatile to be compared to anybody. It’s different things," he said at the time. "I got stuff that sounds like you can mosh to and then I got stuff that sounds like you could make love to. And then I got shit that sounds like 2020, futuristic. So it’s hard to compare me to another artist when everything is not the same. You can’t really compare to another artist."
