This past weekend, 64-year-old Stephen Paddock took aim from the roof of his Mandalay Bay Hotel room and fired a continual barrage of bullets at attendees of the Route 91 Harvest Festival country concert in Las Vegas. At least 58 people have been confirmed dead, and another 500 were injured in the attack.

In the days following the horrific shooting, it was reported that Paddock, who was found dead shortly after the massacre, had been planning to attack concert-goers at the Life Is Beautiful Festival, which was headlined by Chance The Rapper and Lorde. Now, USA Today confirms a TMZ report that Paddock booked hotel rooms overlooking Lollapalooza 2017 months before the attack.

Paddock reportedly booked one room at Chicago's Blackstone Hotel on Aug. 1, just two days before the annual music festival was set to begin in Chicago's Grant Park. He bought himself a second room on Aug. 3, and both rooms were set-up with checkout dates of Aug. 6, corresponding with the final day of the festival.

Though sources tell TMZ Paddock never checked in, he did apparently ask for a "view room" overlooking the main stage. The hotel had views of the main entrance and exit where tons of people would file through.

In a statement, the Chicago police said they were working in concert with their "federal partners" and other law enforcement to work ensure the safety of concert-goers.

Performing at this year's iteration of the typically star-studded festival were Lorde and Chance The Rapper, and thousands upon thousands of people attend every year. Even Malia Obama was there this year.
