Kap G's consistency and work ethic has landed the young Mexican-American MC a spot on the coveted 2017 XXL Freshman Class cover. Hailing out of College Park, Ga., Kap's melodic style and lyrical content hasn't gone unnoticed in the industry with hip-hop heavyweights such as Pharrell Williams and T.I. co-signing the Supa Jefe's one-of-a-kind style.

Releasing his debut single, "Tatted Like a Migo," featuring Chief Keef in 2012, Kap G gained minor success with the track, helping him gain recognition in the Atlanta Metropolitan area. Shortly after, the young Georgia rapper began to remix a number of popular tracks on the radio, catching the attention of Dungeon Family A&R representative KP, better known as Kawan Prather. The partnership between the two resulted in KP managing Kap G, who eventually signed a record deal with Atlantic Records.

In 2014, Kap released a slew of mixtapes including the critically acclaimed Like a Mexican. Backed by the standout cuts "Fuck La Policia" and "Vamanos," the project caught the attention of Pharrell, who dubbed him as "the future," and eventually ended up signing Kap to his imprint, i am OTHER.

“I remember he [Pharrell] told me, 'Bro, I haven’t been this excited since Clipse,' and that’s when I knew that I had potential to do it, you know what I mean?" Kap G tells XXL. "I look at Pharrell like a big brother. He always gives me that advice. Whatever I need. If I want to talk to him about the music, about the fashion—I know he gonna keep it 100 with me."

Since then, Kap has managed to stay relevant in the Atlanta hip-hop scene by collaborating with the likes of well-respected MCs out of the A. In 2016, Kap dropped another gem with the release of El Southside mixtape, which included star-studded guest features from Young Thug, YFN Lucci and Cash Out.

"Girlfriend," Kap's biggest hit to date from that tape, has now racked up over 19 million views and counting on YouTube. In April of 2017, Kap returned to the scene with his latest mixtape dubbed Supa Jefe and a cast of guests that include Chris Brown, Pharrell, Dae Dae and more.
