Smino Explores the Desert With His Ride or Die Chick for “Anita” Video

Smino is slowly but surely making his way up the hip hop community's rising favorites list, and he's taking advantage of the shine by releasing some quality content both musically and visually. The St. Louis rapper just released the visuals to his "Anita" record, which finds him serenading a woman he's recently caught feelings for.

In the video, Smino is seen taking his ride or die chick woman across the desert in a drop top Mustang before they eventually get out to explore the trails, climb on rocks, and even hit up a nearby bar to beat out a local in pool. The two become closer as the Missouri native shows his affection for Anita before they shack up in a mysterious household for the evening. Jean Deaux plays the leading lady in the video next to Smino, and is actually the one who directed the visuals for "Anita."

While speaking in a press release on the concept of the video, Smino explained, "I wanted it to be on some black love shit. But I didn't have a particular thought or storyline." Deaux adds, "I knew he wanted to do something lighthearted, warm, and something that was an example of our adoration for each other."
