Drake's rise to the rank of omnipotent pop culture force continues. Today (April 25), it was revealed Toronto's favorite son will host the first ever NBA Awards Show on Mon., June 26. Drizzy himself made the announcement with a Twitter video.

"Hosting first-ever NBA Awards on TNT, June 26th--tune in," he wrote in the tweet with the video attached. In the visual, we can see Drizzy's OVO logo positioned next to a trophy, which is also next to a skyscraper seemingly meant to symbolize New York City.

The inaugural event will honor the best the NBA has to offer, giving out trophies for Kia's NBA Most Valuable Player, Kia's NBA Rookie of the Year, Kia's NBA Sixth Man Award, Kia's NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Kia's NBA Most Improved Player and NBA Coach of the Year.

Additional fan-voted awards categories will also be included, and the finalists will be announced this Thurs., April 27, during TNT’s Inside the NBA – and social media awards. Curating all of the action will be Drizzy, who's become just about as big as an entertainer can get over the last several years. The Inside the NBA studio team of Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Shaquille O’Neal will also be popping up during the awards show.

Given Drizzy's long-documented affinity for the NBA, this move makes a ton of sense--and he's a natural. If you're a Drake fan, you probably remember his entertaining turn hosting the ESPY Awards in 2014.

Throwing in well-placed quips and flawlessly executed skits throughout his time curating the sports awards show, it was clear Drizzy was a natural, so it's great he'll have the chance to flex his comedic chops for fans once more this summer. We can't wait. You can peep Drizzy's video tweet announcing his hosting job below.
