T-Pain and Lil Wayne have collaborated on several songs under the name T-Wayne. With such a high volume of promising tracks, there was a strong chance that the full album of the same name would see the light of day. But after several years of it being in limbo, Pain confirms with XXL that it was just an idea that never picked up any speed.

“He may have been high when he said he wanted to do it in the first place,” Pain said jokingly. But in all seriousness, Pain’s frequent collaborator has been busy since the initial talks of the project, putting out Tha Carter IV, helping the careers of Drake and Nicki Minaj and creating more solo hit records like “No Worries.”

While the duo’s album is scrapped indefinitely, that doesn’t stop them from getting into the studio again. Wayne appeared on Pain’s 2011 album Revolver on a track titled “Bang Bang Pow Pow.” With that said, Pain believes another record will happen in the future. “Wayne has these moments where he does what he does. He fucks with who is hot,” he said. “If I am taking a break, which means I ain’t really hot anymore. Of course, I don’t hope on working with him when I am taking a break. But, we definitely doing it again. T-Wayne will never go away.”

T-Pain’s new album Stoicville: The Phoenix is due sometime in 2014.
