The promotional run is a gamut for any major label rapper, full of interminable press dockets and the kind of phone interviews that make all parties involved reach for the Xanax. But Wale has a trick up his sleeve. As yesterday (April 7) showed, the D.C. rapper's ace in the hole is his thorough knowledge of and love for sports, which he was able to flex on his trip to ESPN. First appearing on First Take (for which Stephen A. Smith joined via satellite), Wale discussed the wrestling championship belt he was carrying with him and complained the the pinstripes on Skip Bayless' suit. The clip was preceded by a hilarious skit wherein Jerry Seinfeld has a phone conversation with Rick Ross (whom Jerry calls "Rozay"). The panel also touched on the intensely personal nature of The Album About Nothing and got the rapper's picks for the NBA finals (Golden State and Cleveland). Wale previously recorded a First Take theme song, which has stuck with the show since its early days.

After that, he sat down with the hosts of His & Hers, where he jokingly called his friendship with Jerry Seinfeld one of his "crowning achievements," revealing that Jerry's wife was the driving force behind the relationship in its early stages.
