Rexx Life Raj Demands Some Respect on His Name in New Freestyle

The third time seems to be the charm for Rexx Life Raj. The “Forever Lit” rapper admits that he found his groove while working on his new album, Father Figure 3: Somewhere Out There. “I’m at a place where I found myself more as an artist,” the 29-year-old Berkeley, Calif. native says. “For the longest, I was trying to figure it out, but I caught my rhythm and everything just comes natural now.” With his swagger in tact, Rexx Life Raj wants you to put some respect on his name in XXL’s Flex Zone freestyle series.

“Put some respect on my name with a K like Baby, bitch/We ain’t close enough for you to use my government alias/Niggas with the shits like bubble guts how they wave the stick/Until my niggas hop on that stage like ’Ye did Taylor Swift,” spits the artist and songwriter, who believes “a loss is a win from a different view.”

Rexx Life Raj’s recently released Father Figure 3: Somewhere Out There houses contributions from Russ, Bas and Kehlani, who appears on the vibey single “Your Way.” The album also features live instrumentation and a more cohesive sound overall than previous installments in the Father Figure series. “Sonically, it’s more polished and clean around the edges,” he shares when comparing his latest project to its predecessor, 2017’s Father Figure 2: Flourish.

In support of his new project, Rex—who has in the past hit the road with artists like Bas and P-Lo—is slated to perform in major cities like Boston, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles for his Somewhere Out There Tour, which happens to also be his first headlining tour.
