As Ty Dolla $ign gears up for his next studio album, the Los Angeles singer dropped off his new single, "Purple Emoji" with J. Cole, on Monday (May 20).

The MXXWLL-produced song is a smooth ode to a solid woman in Ty's life, with the "purple emoji" representing a devilish-but-cute message you'd send to your boo.

"You know I need you, baby/So much on my mind I ain't even really sleeping lately" Ty sings on the song. "I said some things I didn't mean—I know I did too much/What's love if we can't get into it, turn around and make up?"

Cole's part is seemingly dedicated to his longtime love and wife, Melissa Heholt, who he welcomed a child with a few years back.

"She pushed out a kid for me/When I'm gone, you hold down the crib for me," Cole raps. "You know you wouldn't last in no prison/You told me straight up you ain't doing no bid for me!"

Ty premiered the track on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 show on Monday, and told Lowe how the track came about.

"I was at this studio called Jungle City in New York working on Yandhi with Kanye. I just took over the top room I had a whole separate room he had the bottom floors. And then just turns out Cole was in the room right next to me," Ty revealed. "When I saw him, I was like, 'Bro I got something to play you!' and he’s like, 'I got something to play to you!' So I went to his studio and heard everything he was working on and then I’m like, 'Yo I just did this one I thought would be crazy for both of us!' So he came in my room, I played it for him immediately and he did his verse in five minutes."

"Purple Emoji" will live on Ty's third studio album, following 2017's Beach Hou$e 3. Last year, he also dropped Mih-Ty, which is a joint album with Jeremih.
