Louisiana and Maryland link up. Recently, Baton Rouge, La.-bred Caleb Brown teamed up with the DMV's own Idk for "Bleublk," an ominous-sounding new track that finds both rappers playing with flows and pitches.

Riding the sounds of menacing bass, the two rappers do some serious damage to the beat. Leading things off is Brown, who you can't help but notice sounds a good bit like Tyler, The Creator on the track. "I'm living with an unrestricted karma/I shoot at 12 and move to Yokohama/You penny-pinching, give me all my commas," he spits, leaving some very cartoonish, vintage Slim Shady-esque adlibs in the background.

For his part, Idk speeds things up, adjusting his flow a few times within a tight verse. "I be killing that kitty like I'm me Jason/In the spot with a G like a Free Mason/Fuck a White girl and pray for a free nation/Fuck a white girl so good she can't be racist," raps Idk, whose Chief Keef collab was recently used in a Dragon Ball Super commercial.

Listening to tracks like this one, it isn't hard to see why Brown has caught on so quickly. He's got his own unique style, but as he told XXL for The Break, he's also been compared to an interesting mix of rap stars that came before him.

"As of recently, I’ve gotten Tyler, The Creator because of my tone," he told XXL last year. I got ScHoolboy Q and Kendrick [Lamar] because of subject matter and content."

See if you can peep any of his influences in the track below. When you're done with that, listen to Brown and Jose Xavier's What's So Fun About Perfect EP.
