When he's not stirring up drama on Twitter, Lupe Fiasco is one of hip-hop's best lyricists, and the Chicago rapper proved it on Monday (Jan. 8), when he dropped a short, a cappella freestyle.

In the freestyle, the DROGAS Light rapper shows off his slick wordplay, rapping, "Say impediments and the random egotistical elephant in the room/Looking for something heaven-sent, like his medicine in the moon/Or intelligence in the heaviness of a tomb/How much a song weigh? 30 pounds for every entendre."

In a tweet that was sent out with the song, Lupe revealed the inspiration for the freestyle came after King Los tweeted a link to his song "Calm Dat" and told his followers to "send this to my brother Lupe the master rap analyst."

Lupe eventually caught wind of Los' tweet, writing back, "Get this back to my bro @iamKingLos IT...just a first draft first take after listening to calm dat...could use a little refinement but I gave myself and hour time limit...👍🏾."

Over the weekend, Lupe ruffled a few feathers when he said Kendrick isn't a top-tier lyricist. "His overall lyrics are good, his stories phenomenal, but punchline entendre lyrically I don't see it," the rapper said to someone who asked if Logic was a better lyricist than K. Dot.

In another deleted tweet, Lupe continued discussing Kendrick, writing, “Also the only issue that the world thinks I have with K. Dot and I actually do is that I think his ‘Control’ verse was wack and super overhyped to be a verse claiming you are the best rapper. It was very weird. I was told it was just bait, but still.”
