On March 4, 2016, at age 28, Bankroll Fresh, one of Atlanta’s hottest rappers at the time, was shot and killed outside of Street Execs Studios in his hometown. The sad news of Bankroll’s death shocked the hip-hop community to its core. One year later, fellow Atlanta spitta, Scotty ATL, celebrates the life of Bankroll Fresh with the new song “Thinkin Bout a Check.”

The track is one of many to appear on the mixtape they were working on together before Bankroll passed. They recorded 10-plus songs together that are still unreleased. The subject matter of the song is pretty simple: money is always on their mind.

"Yeah pull up in the Beamer/Can't stop thinking about a check/Dead fresh, polo turtleneck/Purple label on me, yeah I'm fresh/Racks in my pocket, yeah they big/All these bitches, yeah they on my dick," raps Bankroll.

To further celebrate the "Hot Boy" rapper's legacy, we spoke to DJ Pretty Boy Tank, a popular Atlanta-based DJ who worked with him and was his close friend, and Bankroll's mother Terisa Price. Together, they shared memories and tales of their time with the rising rapper.

Scotty's new single here "Life of the Party" is also out for public consumption. The radio hit is produced by KE on the Track. "Life of the Party" is off of Scotty ATL's new mixtape Smoking on My Own Strain, which features Curren$y, Kap G, Bankroll Fresh, Doe B, Starlito and Killa Kyleon. It also features production by Drumma Boy, JayeLL and more.

You can catch Scotty on tour with Starlito & Don Trip starting next weekend in St. Louis. This is Scotty's fourth national tour and his second tour this year 2017.
