Listen to Oddisee’s New Album ‘The Iceberg’

Oddisee is back with his 11th studio LP The Iceberg today (Feb. 24). The DC rapper/producer delivers 12 new tracks with features from Toine and Olivier St. Louis, the official follow-up to his 2015 album The Good Fight.

Prior to today's release, Oddisee previewed the album by dropping singles “Things,” “Like Really,” & “NNGE (Never Not Getting Enough).” The singles have a deliberately troubled air about them with Oddisee addressing the social issues facing this country on wax, specifically on “NNGE."

“I grew up witnessing many protests come to Washington DC. This song continues that tradition by using words of encouragement over production inspired by the native sounds of DC music,” Oddisee said when he released “NNGE" earlier this week.

The album's streaming page on Bandcamp describes the overall project as "a distillation of stereotypical tropes in hip-hop and beyond, 12 tracks about money, sex, politics, race and religion that appear superficial until his multi-dimensional lyrics unfurl to expose the complexities of individuality and identity." In other words, this jazz and soul-influenced effort makes for heavy, contemplative listening.

Oddisee will set out on his "Beneathe The Surface" Tour with Good Company and Oliver St. Louis beginning March 2 to promote The Iceberg. The 55-city tour will include stops in Europe and cover the entire U.S., ending in NYC in late May.
