Tru Life was released from prison last April after serving an eight-year sentence for a fatal stabbing that occurred in 2009. Since his release, the L.E.S. rapper has seen great success after dropping his first loosie, “Bag For It,” which featured Rick Ross and Velous.

Today (Jan. 10), Tru continues his momentum and drops “Bang Bang” featuring Axel Leon. The two New York natives join forces and place their aim at mumble rappers in hip-hop right now.

We spoke to Tru Life after he was released from prison last year. He discussed the unreleased music featuring Jay Z, Nas, Future and more he has in the vault.

"We got a bunch of records that we did with Jay and stuff like that when I was over there that we never put out or never really finished," he said. "But those records wasn’t finished so I never put them together. I still got them on my hard drive or I may have verses that some of these guys sent me when we was working on records, but I was working on my album. We never got to finish them, so that’s why they not out because I’m such a perfectionist myself and they are too. I just never had time to finish. We were in the middle of finishing my album, now if that tragedy didn’t happen, then it would’ve been different and the world would’ve gotten to hear those."
