The Lox are just the latest in a series of rappers outraged by police brutality in America and are using their voices for change. It's been a minute since the Yonkers trio got together on wax, but today (Aug. 1) Jadakiss, Sheek Louch and Styles P link up to drop the new track "What Happens." The guys dropped their new loosie via TIDAL and penned a poignant open letter to the public along with it about the song's heartfelt meaning.

"Some may interpret this song as a threat – it is not," reads the open letter. "We are asking a question, ”What happens when we can’t take any more, what happens when we do to you what you have done to us?” As artists and businessmen we know good officers. We have gone to school with, grown up with and are friends with officers. Officers have supported some of our businesses and we appreciate and support officers right back. But, we cannot ignore recent horrifying incidents. To police and government officials across the world, please understand and over stand – We want peace!!!"

The Lox are clearly not alone in their sentiments following what's been a heated Summer 2016 for cops and the Black community. Back in July, the names two Black men, Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, went viral online after they were shot to death by police on the same day. Rappers like 50 Cent, The Game, T.I., Drake, Joe Budden and more have used their celebrity status to organize protests, drop freedom fighter anthems and set up donations for the victims' families. Some things are bigger than hip-hop.
