Dave East is looking back on an old hustle for his latest track. The Buda and Grandz produced "Stove Top" sees East revisiting the days when he had to cook cocaine to get by. The Harlem rapper gets vivid with the description as he spits about his experience in the trap.

"I was in the trap all night, all day/Tryna get my money back 'fore the sun drop/I'm paranoid so my gun cocked/Bout to run my city but I started off a one block/Flex and drop a bomb to this shit/We be in the projects every other day, boy/Or do the mansion with some money, I'm a playboy/Don't even ask me what I make, boy/I got my mask on the kitchen/Caught a cramp in my wrist from the whipping/He acting nervous 'round the gang, bet he snitching/If don't end up in the dirt, he with the fishes," Dave East raps.

Fans can expect to hear "Stove Top" on Dave East's new mixtape Kairi Chanel due out on July 22. The project will be East's first project since being named to the 2016 XXL Freshman class. During his sit-down interview with XXL, the Mass Appeal artist spoke about the difficulty of making it in New York these days.

"To make it up out of there is really a task itself," he said. The rapper went on to explain that the struggle is what builds the character of his hometown. "A lot of creativity coming from the east side of Harlem. It really built my character and who I am."
