Freeway has released the new single "First Things First" as a preview of his new album Free Will, which is scheduled to drop in two weeks. The new track sees Freeway teaming up with producer Girl Talk, who the Philadelphia rapper collaborated with on the 2014 EP Broken Ankles.

"First Things First" gives fans another taste of what to expect on Freeway's upcoming solo LP following last month's release of "Hot as Ice." The State Property member explains that album's title is self-explanatory.

"The essence of the full album is simply Free Will," Freeway says. "As human beings we’re Gods only creation and we have a choice to do right or wrong, with those choices, they affect your life and your afterlife. I touch base on many of the choices I made in my life and reveal how those choices affected me."

Freeway has dealt with making some hard choices in his life following a health scare last year when he suffered kidney failure. The "What We Do" rapper spoke about his ability to confront and overcome this obstacle put in his way.

"It’s been a huge lifestyle change and in the beginning it was affecting me," Freeway says. "But I chose to stand in front of it and spread awareness about kidney disease. I'm doing much better, all my numbers are good and I'm on the transplant list awaiting a new kidney. My family is my main motivation to keep pushing; I can't let them see anything defeat me."

Freeway's new album Free Will drops April 29 on Babygrande Records.
