Kevin Abstract can't but put in a box and the 19-year-old proves as much with "Cut Out," a joint released in celebration of the Easter holiday. Sounding like something he cooked up with a garage band, Abstract sings over a wailing guitar and proves once again that he's much more than just a rapper. During an interview with XXL in 2014, Abstract cited Nirvana as a major inspiration and "Cut Out" certainly has the fell of a grungy, unfinished demo cut in the same vein as the Pacific Northwest's pioneering band.

"Might open up my shows with this one if we do an american run," he wrote on his website. "Never finished it. Not for the album - prod. by rom. Happy Easter niggas."

The Corpus Christi, TX native has been making noise as part of the Alive Since Forever crew and at under 20-years-old, the artist is one of hip-hop's next big things. Due to his witty lyricism and sense of humor, Abstract drew comparisons to Childish Gambino early in his career. Based on Gambino's success and stardom, it's certainly not a bad person be mentioned in the same sentence as. "[I've been compared to] Childish Gambino," he told us. "We share the same influences. Plus, I’m a fan. The comparison doesn’t bother me."

Abstract has gotten off to a fast start in 2016. Back in Feb., he teamed up with Owen Bones and Mick Jenkins for "Stuntman," then he and Allan Kingdom dropped "The Potion."
