Kool A.D., Talib Kweli and Boots Riley Tell a Colorful Story in “Hickory” Video

Kool A.D. is not Beyoncé, but he's close. Over the past year or so, the former Das Racist member has shot a video for every single cut from his most recent album, 2014's Word O.K. Now, the final installment arrives, by way of a Peruvian art collective called Youth Experimental Studio and their meticulous watercolor work in the Boots Riley- and Talib Kweli-featuring "Hickory." The clip for the Amaze 88-produced track is beautifully rendered; for each individual second in the video, 24 watercolor images were produced. The finished product is vibrant and vital, a considered match for such an incisive song. In addition to his solo work, Kool A.D. has recently contributed to albums by some of underground rap's most exciting figures, like milo and Open Mike Eagle.
